Local Quilt Show

This week will see me getting ready for our local quilt show....the Central Coast Charity Quilt Show.....held at the Wyong Race Club on the 13th and 14th April. I have a stall there each year along with lots of other local businesses. Lots of photos next week.

The kids and I spent a lovely Easter in the country with my parents....great to catch up with lots of relatives....great autumn weather as well.

I tried out a new E-2-E pattern from Lorien Quilting called 'Simple Jacobean"......love how it stitched out...

Managed to finish a small custom....

Travelled down to Sydney on Friday to the NSW Quilters Guild for the Friday Showcase......this months guest speaker was Catherine Butterworth....am loving being involved with the 2 other girls organising the Friday Showcase...learning lots ..

I unfortunately got caught up in major train delays and arrived all flustered and stressed....but that soon changed...Catherine had an amazing body of work to show us!! I was so inspired...came home all energised and enthusiastic.......feel the need to do a log cabin...a large log cabin...

Have a great week

March Traditional Nine Patch Swap

Loving being involved in Trish's traditional nine patch swap...although I think I need to mix my colours up a bit....this month's look suspiciously like Feb's...

Heading to the Central West for a couple of days to visit Mum and Dad over Easter... minus the other half who has to work....just me and the kids. Looking forward to the break.

Hope everyone has a happy Easter..

Wholecloth

Finished my small wholecloth this week. It was made using Keryn Emmerson's patterns designed to be stitched out with your walking foot....although I added some freemotion stipple in the background.
The fabric on the front of the quilt has been hand dyed by Naomi from "Stitches and Spice". I love the way it has turned out.

This week I need to turn this fabric into 14 nine patch squares for the March "Traditional Nine Patch Swap"

No footy today...a day at home.

Olive Tree Markets.

Highlight of the week would have to be a visit to the "Olive Tree Markets" at The Junction in Newcastle yesterday.
Miss Beth and I had a great wander around.....SO many lovely things....need to go back when I'm flush with funds....did manage a small amount of retail therapy....

The soaps are from "Goat Soap Lady" and they smell divine. The candles are from "Bumble Beeswax Candles".

Finished a semi custom this week....

Got a good start on another walking foot wholecloth.....bit addicted....some freemotion in the background of this one...

Tried out a pattern called "Puzzle"....Norma Sharpe on some more of 'Stitches and Spice's " hand dyed fabric....a really LIME green... quite like it...another baby quilt.

Just need to bind it.

Off to the footy again today.
Have a great week.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Began the week by totally rearranging the display area....we were lucky enough to get the carpet display rack/stand  from Jackie at Blueberries as she was getting rid of it.....had to shuffle everything around to fit it in......should be a good way to display some finished quilts.
You can just see the stand in the left hand corner.

Of course it was pouring with rain as we moved it...

Woke to a beautiful sunrise on Monday....a busy, busy week

Some yummy new wide backing fabrics arrived....

Some E-2-E's finished....

Finished a custom...
Have a great week

This week...

This week saw a mixture of things completed........

This one is another of the cot quilts I am making to sell...I have used some of Naomi's hand dyed fabric from "Stitches and Spice"...love the colour...it's called "Cosmos".

I have used Keryn Emmerson's design "Windy Night"
Completed a semi-custom...with a new pattern for me from Joanne Knott..."Fancy Cable"

Hopefully made a little girl happy with "Angel Wings" on her quilt....

NEARLY finished a custom using Keryn Emmerson's "Bella Feather" triangle design....LOVE it...

Am still managing to keep the display area tidy...not sure how long to give myself before the usual chaos takes over....the view out my door as I left yesterday...am loving the new location...

My mission this week is to complete my blocks for the traditional nine patch swap that I have joined......got my fabrics from "Blueberries"at north Wyong...such a shame that I had to go fabric shopping...

Have a great week

Settled in...

I have settled into the "new shed"..and actually managed to finish something...

The kids are back at school...Miss Beth celebrated her 12th birthday this week...luckily the first time in a long time that she hasn't been going back to school on her actual birthday......the big year 7 this year!!! Mister James is in year 9. I figure I'm allowed a few grey hairs now...time has gone by SO quick.

We always make "Ma's chocolate cake" (my mum)  for ANY birthday......very yummy....

I travelled down to Sydney on Friday for the first Friday Showcase of the year at the NSW Quilters Guild. It is held on the first Friday of most months. This months guest quilter was Lynn Hewitt....love Lynn...loved the "journey" of her quilting that she took us on. I will be part of the 3 person team organising the Friday Showcase...I am enjoying being involved so far..

Have a great week

Time to Move

For the past 10 years I have worked from home....in the red shed at the end of our driveway.
This weekend we moved the machines to a new location.....

...a factory bay 5 mins. away from home. We have spent the past fortnight painting and making "ant trips" to move things over..

The photo below is the shed EMPTY after the machines have been moved over to the factory bay......feels weird not having all my "bits" here....

BUT...I am looking forward to getting back to "quilting" work now that all the hard work is done....

Have a great week.....and try to stay dry.

T'was the week before Christmas

Not long now and still quite a bit to do. I'm looking forward to a break over Christmas and New Year.

The week started easily enough with two cot quilts...
The first has Irene Steele's "Timeless Hearts" on it.....The second "Bubble Meander"

I spent a LONG time on the above quilt...which is just what you DON'T want at this time of year...using Joanne Knott's P2P tall Triangle Feathers...

Quilted this enormous bargello with Lisa Calle's "raindrops"

This one got Lorien Quiltings "Hollyhock"

Had to quilt the borders only of this quilt with Deb Geisslers "Rose Border"...The quilt had it's centre already quilted....dont normally do jobs like this as you never know really what you are taking on....was thinking while doing it...WHY did I agree to do it? Can't seem to say NO!

Thankfully ended the week with a mindless tacking job....

Saturday was the last Juniors class for the year....I have loved teaching the girls...hope they have a great Christmas.....

Have a great week.
