Quilting Class

Just had to share this photo of Ruby ....she just loves the camera.....almost like she knows what it is for...

Tried out some new patterns this week...I have joined two pantograph clubs....one from Lorien Quilting....the first photo is "Hollyhock"from Lorien.....and also Keryn Emmerson's "Kitchen Sink"club...will try some of those newies this week.
The second photo is Lisa Calle's "starlets" and is available free from her website.....thought it would be good for kids quilt...

Quilting classes are held at "All About Sewing" Charmhaven on the first Saturday of the month and the third Friday. The idea is to run you thru' a 'basics' lesson and  from then on you bring your own thing to QUILT. The classes have been going well and I am constantly being amazed at the work being produced!!

This is a close up of Wendy's homework......she worked out the quilting plan/design last lesson and went home and quilted it with her walking foot. Love it!

Gail and Angela... freemotion quilting for the first time...

Wendy and Di hard at work...

Jan and Jayne with her block design stitched out...

Busy week coming up...lots to get thru' before Santa comes..
Have a good one.

Home From Adelaide

This is the view from our room, which was just across the road from the Convention Centre where all the classes for the Australian Machine Quilting Festival were held.
Leanne, Clare and I flew down on Thursday and came home Tuesday....a fair amount of time to spend away.....couldn't have done it with two better roomies!

The first day was spent being entertained by Ricky Tims...an incredibly creative man...

For a while we didn't see much of Adelaide except for the inside of the Convention Centre...especially Leanne...who pretty much did classes back to back.

The classes I got the most out of would have to have been Megan Best...an American tutor...lots of background fills...

A class with Myrna .. dividing spaces up into quiltable sections....
Lots of drawing....I can see a wholecloth in this...

and on the last day a wholecloth design class with aussie Michele Turner......best class EVER!!!!

The centre of Michele's beautiful wholecloth...

On the last day I got a bit of free time...... so went for a wander... lots of  churches....these two were really close to where we stayed..

I enjoyed the LONG weekend and loved catching up with people I don't see very often......It was great to meet fellow blogger Judy, if only briefly.....and great to meet some new friends.

Catch up time now....
Have a great week

The best thing that happened this week came about thru' a chance meeting a few weeks ago......I met Naomi from "Stitches and Spice"..a local artisan who is into hand dyed fabric and threads.
I visited her at her shed...yes she works out of her shed too....and absolutely fell in love with her gorgeous fabric colours. We chose 4 colours...she is going to dye some fabric for me to make up into quilts.....SO hard to just choose 4 colours. Now I can't wait for them to be finished so that I can get cracking on the ideas I have to use up that wonderful colour...and who would have thought that she is so close to me...

I managed to finish Babettes beauty.....enjoyed working on this...

Ended the week spending a few hours at Wyong Hospital......due to a very fancy gymnastic move.....

Well done Missy Beth....
Have a great week

Machine Quilting Workshop

On the first Saturday of the month we will be holding a machine quilting class at "All About Sewing" Charmhaven.
The idea is for you to bring along a quilt top of your own that needs quilting and and your lesson will be tailored to what you need to learn.
Yesterday, on the first day of spring, we held our first class. It was a great day...the girls were busy doing samples with their walking foot and free-motion foot.
There is SO much you can do with your walking foot...next time they will need to bring a quilt top of their own to work on.

Lola..walking foot quilting.

Erin..bottom left ....did really well...a first timer..

Ally..walking foot quilting.....looking at the idea of repetition and the patterns created by that repetition...

Lola and Erin..

Rhonda...

Close-up of walking foot block...love the circular pattern .....

Ally really wanted to work at perfecting a new backround fill for herself.....and she did....absolutely beautiful!!!

Di ...happy with her feather progress.....

Josie....concentrating hard...
Loved the day and can't wait for the next one ...which will be on the 6th October...."All About Sewing" Charmhaven. Call Jody at the shop on 43932200 to confirm your place in the class.
Have a great week
