The week ended with a charity sewing day organised by Blueberries and All About Sewing.
I was lucky enough to join a class with Chris Jurd....a lovely tutor and just loved foundation piecing all day....

Weekend Workshop

Home from a weekend away teaching domestic machine quilting to a keen bunch of ladies.....full on though......fairly slow day at work today.....did finish a quilt for chookyblue....hope she likes it...

On the Weekend....


On the weekend we had a party for Mr J......here at home.....very tired today....not much sleep.....early 17th......B-Day on Tuesday.

A lovely rainbow.....just before the party started and chaos began...



Luckily the rain held off and the party stayed mostly outside... 

A busy week. Pam Furniss monthly class at the Red Shed tomorrow AND she is brining Lessa Siegele with her for a visit....I have long admired her work so am looking forward to it.

Friday the "Judging Education Program" organised by the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc. will hold a training day at RED SHED QUILTING........going over all things Longarm Quilting......should be good....

Teaching "Wiggle Wobble Baby Wholecloth" to a group of students at Pam Furniss' home on Sat. and Sun. Have been busy organising the kits....


Finished a semi-custom using Anne Bright's 'Gala Daisy" set.

Mother's Day


Happy late Mothers Day......spent the first half behind the counter of the canteen at the footy.....doing duty for my son's team....lucky I really love him.....and the second half cleaning the house.....


I did get flowers and choc's tho'

Massive effort getting this wedding ring quilt out the door....in time for a wedding....

First Concert


Friday was an epic marathon day starting early to travel to Sydney for the NSW Quilters Guild Inc
 Friday Showcase. Guest presenter this month was Wendy Williams......WOW!!!


......followed by taking Miss Beth to her first concert at Allphones Arena......"The Script".....an amazing night......LATE night....home @ 1am.......


Some quilting was done......this weeks pick is an E-2-E with Lorien Quilting's "Luxury".....

Anzac Day


Attended the dawn service and the 9.30 service here with the band that Miss Beth plays in......





......needless to say we were all VERY tired yesterday afternoon and I was in bed by 8pm.....unheared of!!

Cleaning up after the storms today....hoping for a bit of sun.

Quilting Patterns

A delivery from Lorien Quilting from her 'Short and Sweet ' range.....only 5" high ......will be running some Edge-to-edge classes on the domestic machines and on the sweet 16......stayed tuned...



This beauty went home to its owner..........another custom quilt bites the dust.....





Road testing a marking pencil that one of the stall holders at "Craft Alive" in Dubbo was using.....supposed to come off with water......I am marking up a 'Walking foot wholecloth' designed by ME......will let you know the outcome when stitching is complete and quilt has been washed.

I am off to do an in-house service on a sweet 16 today.....then plan to have the afternoon off.

Sun is peeping thru'.....enjoy.

Long Weekend

I am at the tail end of the Easter long weekend.
Planning on a day at home catching up on domestics after a really busy few weeks.

I took the "Red Shed " on the road last weekend and travelled out to Dubbo to participate in "Craft Alive".
A really positive experience.....I met lots of lovely people.....and caught up with some people from home....I grew up in the region......even chatting to one of my old school teachers. LONG drive though with the station wagon bursting at the seams with backing fabrics, wadding etc.



Miss Beth plays flute in a local band...the Wallarah Community Band.....and this Easter weekend we travelled to Sydney in the pouring rain to participate in the National Band Competition.....our band was in D grade.......so proud.....the band WON!!! they played beautifully....here they are at the start of the performance....




I am a sponsor for the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc. show for the first time......17th -21st June....anyone have a quilt in the show?


Anyway.....much catching up to do......and sun is finally out.....might get some washing dry...

Two Trips to Sydney.


Two trips to Sydney this week.
The first was to attend a workshop on " judging art quilts". Held at the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc. head office.
Really interesting morning.


The second was to attend Friday Showcase at the Quilters Guild of NSW with the guest presenter this month being ME!!! Two heavy suitcases on the train full of my quilts and lots of nerves.....it was over quickly.....I think I spoke too fast....but not as bad as I thought it would be.


The raffle quilt below was returned to its owner this week. It will be raffled for "Relay for Life" team Bec and Bob. I have tickets for sale in the shed. A lovely fresh quilt. Quilted with Lorien Quilting's "Rustling Leaves".


A little "Yin and Yang" went on this quilt....


Off to watch Mr J in a couple of trial footy matches today....then some sewing in the pm hopefully.

Getting Ready...


Getting ready for "Craft Alive" in Dubbo at the end of March. Lots of new wide backings have come in. Have also restocked labels and note pads from "Hatched and Patched".




A few patterns to check and write up...... will have "Wiggle Wobble" patterns for sale..


and "Daisy Chain"....


and "Geometry", "Firecracker" and "Noughts and Crosses".....





I am also guest speaker at this Friday's Showcase at the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc......I am very nervous about this.....I hope I have enough quilts to show and that I dont talk too quickly.
But today is housework unfortunately.....maybe some sewing later on today....

Where to Start....

Where to start?

A busy week with lots of good things happening.

Some lovely new backing arrived...


I finished my quilt-as-you-go "Daisy Chain" wholecloth......a domestic machine quilting sample that I will be teaching in July at Dungog's Quiltarama...and later in the year at the Red Shed...



Went to training at Blessington and am now qualified to service the Handi Quilter "Sweet 16"....


Finished the week with a Pam Furniss showcase here at Red Shed Quilting.....lovely quilts....lovely company......lovely morning tea...

NSW Longarm Quilters Get Together



A great day yesterday at the NSW Longarm Quilters  get together. Our host this time round was  Sharon French from Morning Star Quilting.
Marni Franks from Frankenstein Fabrics treated us to a talk on all things website/social media etc.


Enjoyed catching up with everyone....we had some show-n-tell as well.


Ended the day with a night  out with friends and the other half.....went to see James Reyne.

Working today trying to finish a teaching sample.

Pam Furniss Trunk Show

On Saturday 21st Feb. Pam Furniss will be coming to Red Shed Quilting to present a Trunk Show of her quilts.

The event is FREE and includes morning tea.

10 am to 12pm


Pam is well know for the beautiful work that she produces......applique raw edge and needle turn, quilt as you go, quilting with decorative stitches.......

Back At Work

School holidays are over......back at work in the red shed......it's all happening.
Saturday sewing class is now weekly and yesterday was the first class back.....had a lovely morning catching up and meeting new sewers....


Pam Furniss is teaching a monthly class at Red Shed Quilting and her first class back is tomorrow Feb. 2nd.......still a couple of spots available..


Trying to finish an unusual custom......and got a couple of E-2-E's finished this week...

New Website and....

Happy New Year.....


My new website is up and running.....still a few things to tweek ....and add....

and that will all come with time.

I am still on "holidays"......and have managed to read a few books and go to the beach with the kids a few times.....BUT I must admit I have been a bit distracted by the new addition to Red Shed Quilting.

I am now stocking the "HQ Sweet 16" sit down longarm quilting machine.Great specials to be had till the end of January.....take a look at the Red Shed Quilting's website for further details.




Sales and tuition available......so I have been playing with that and getting class samples designed and stitched out.
Classes are up on the new website....with samples to follow as completed.

This year is jam packed full of new ventures as well as quilting for clients. I cant wait to get amongst  it all.
Keen to get back into it. For the next two weeks I will be working half days in the shed (see website for times) and back to work properly on the 27th January.
