Sounds Like a Plan.....

An incredibly busy couple of weeks with lots on.
I'm looking forward to a period of "NORMALITY" now....although my daughter tells me that we don't do normal anymore....where I plan to get back on top of lots of little jobs that need doing.

Catching Up...

Managing to catch up on a few things this week.....MAY "Traditional Nine-Patch swap" is done and JUNE is cut out ready to go...



Finished this quilt above with a pattern from Keryn Emmerson called "Shale"...I've had it for a while ...but this is the first time I have used it...LOVE it..

Tried out a new panto from Lorien Quilting called "Sweat Pea"...loved it...



 Finished a custom that took a LONG time...lots of stitch in the ditch and straight line work...really happy to get it off the frame...used Keryn Emmersons "Bella Feather'" in the large blocks.


Attended Friday Showcase at the NSW Quilters Guild in Sydney last Friday...Pam Curtis was the guest presenter....a prolific quilter who hand pieces and hand quilts...some lovely work on show.

This weekend coming I am attending "Quiltarama" at Dungog. Held at the Dungog RSLon th 13th and 14th July....come along and see a wonderful display of quilts and "craft" supplies on sale.

Lots Going On...

The end of a really busy June....that has seen lots going on....
As well as all the usual customer quilts to get thru'...June saw me doing "drop off lady" duties for the NSW Quilters Guild annual quilt show for the first time. I really enjoyed it and will definately put my hand up to do it again next year. I loved being behind the scenes on judging day...learn't SO much..

GREAT news with Robyn Harris winning first place at  the Sydney show.... in the "commercially quilted" category with her quilt that was quilted by ME!!!


Last weekend  I travelled up to Brisbane with the girls from "Blueberries" to see the VA Quilt exhibition "Quilts 1700- 1945".......LOVED it...came back inspired to do another LARGE wholecloth... 




A wonderful group to go away with.

Now I need to catch up on my "Traditional Nine Patch Swap" blocks......I am 2 months behind....


......And get started on my new project.....

Binding as we speak....

A HUGE week ahead with the Sydney quilt show....working on the "Stitches and Spice" stand Wed. and Thurs.....quilt will be on display on the stand with patterns and kits available.
Roll around Sunday....and let NORMAL return!!!!

It's Raining....

It's raining here today...so it's a perfect day to complete a quilt that I am working on.

The fabrics are hand dyed from "Stitches and Spice"...I'm loving how it is turning out....it will hang on the stand ( Stitches and Spice ) at the Sydney Quilt Show in a week and a bit....I do work well under pressure....patterns will be available for sale as well...

Finished a couple of E2E's......here's good ol' "Pop Corn"



"Daisy Swirl"...another oldie.....


Finished the raffle quilt for Dungog's "Quiltarama" in July...I've been invited to go as a stall holder....should be good....hope they sell lots of tickets...

A well known local quilter is getting rid of her stash.....for a while it will be stored at Red Shed Quilting....it would be great for any groups doing charity quilts...LOTS of bargains!!!

Better get that quilt finished..

A Lovely Morning Tea

 Beth and I had a lovely morning with a small bunch of ladies for our "Australias Biggest Morning Tea".


Lots of chatting ....great to catch up...



I finished a small custom quilt....it is going in a magazine so can only show you the back...love how it has turned out.

It felt like Christmas when all the new backing fabrics arrived ....with some gorgeous new flannel widebacks as well.....



Planning a day off today...the sun is out..might take the family out for morning tea...

a Birthday......

Number one Son turns 15 today........who would have thought....went by in a flash!!!

Happy Birthday Mister J...hope its a good one.

This week has seen me working on a custom I have poured many hours into ...BUT still not finished.....so pics soon........some edge-to-edges finished....

The week ended with me hanging out at the Novocastrian Quilters Saturday meeting.....saw some lovely show n tell....waiting for some ladies to drop their quilts to me as I am a "Drop Off Lady" for the Sydney Quilt Show for the first time.
Looking forward to seeing how it all works on judging day as I get to stay and help out.....moving quilts around.....as the judges do their thing....can't wait for that..

It's not red ....it's BURGUNDY...

My APRIL...yes ...april....traditional nine patch block...a bit late. Sorry Trish...hope I dont get kept in at lunchtime...
The lovely Candy from "A Quilters Hive" chose the fabrics for me this month....just keep in mind that I haven't used RED as I usually do....the block is actually BURGUNDY...splitting hairs I know.

Local Quilt Show

This week will see me getting ready for our local quilt show....the Central Coast Charity Quilt Show.....held at the Wyong Race Club on the 13th and 14th April. I have a stall there each year along with lots of other local businesses. Lots of photos next week.

The kids and I spent a lovely Easter in the country with my parents....great to catch up with lots of relatives....great autumn weather as well.


I tried out a new E-2-E pattern from Lorien Quilting called 'Simple Jacobean"......love how it stitched out...



Managed to finish a small custom....



Travelled down to Sydney on Friday to the NSW Quilters Guild for the Friday Showcase......this months guest speaker was Catherine Butterworth....am loving being involved with the 2 other girls organising the Friday Showcase...learning lots ..

I unfortunately got caught up in major train delays and arrived all flustered and stressed....but that soon changed...Catherine had an amazing body of work to show us!! I was so inspired...came home all energised and enthusiastic.......feel the need to do a log cabin...a large log cabin...

March Traditional Nine Patch Swap

Loving being involved in Trish's traditional nine patch swap...although I think I need to mix my colours up a bit....this month's look suspiciously like Feb's...


Heading to the Central West for a couple of days to visit Mum and Dad over Easter... minus the other half who has to work....just me and the kids. Looking forward to the break.

Wholecloth

Finished my small wholecloth this week. It was made using Keryn Emmerson's patterns designed to be stitched out with your walking foot....although I added some freemotion stipple in the background.
The fabric on the front of the quilt has been hand dyed by Naomi from "Stitches and Spice". I love the way it has turned out.



This week I need to turn this fabric into 14 nine patch squares for the March "Traditional Nine Patch Swap"


No footy today...a day at home.

Olive Tree Markets.


Highlight of the week would have to be a visit to the "Olive Tree Markets" at The Junction in Newcastle yesterday.
Miss Beth and I had a great wander around.....SO many lovely things....need to go back when I'm flush with funds....did manage a small amount of retail therapy....


The soaps are from "Goat Soap Lady" and they smell divine. The candles are from "Bumble Beeswax Candles".

Finished a semi custom this week....


Got a good start on another walking foot wholecloth.....bit addicted....some freemotion in the background of this one...


Tried out a pattern called "Puzzle"....Norma Sharpe on some more of 'Stitches and Spice's " hand dyed fabric....a really LIME green... quite like it...another baby quilt.


Just need to bind it.

Off to the footy again today.

From Soccer to Footy..


Had this lovely bundle arrive in the mail this week...from "Forest Hill Hand Dyed Yarns".....cant wait to do something with it...





Some E-2-E's done....loving the top pattern... a new one from Keryn Emmerson's "Kitchen Sink Club"...its called "Rainbow Hearts".......the one directly below is called "Keltin Panto" also one of Keryn's...both stitched out beautifully...
The bottom two are Irene Steele's "Bow Meander"



Finished a large custom which incorporated this log cabin pattern by Tammy Finkler...love her work two.

Off to a footy match today as mister 14 has swapped from soccer to footy....first trial match of the season...good excuse not to have to clean the house...
